Assembly Instructions for...
--RC-Style 1, 3, 7,
G, J, L, P, U
--SSR-Style 1, 7

Disclaimer: rde Connectors & Cables, Inc., cannot be held liable for failure to follow these instructions properly or for accidents that may occur during assembly.

STEP 1 - CONNECTOR & TOOL
First, make sure you have all you need: (1) the assembled connector as shipped from us; and (2) the assemly tool (RC-Z2099). For small quantities, you can also use the mating connector as an assembly tool. (Styles RC-1, RC-L, and SSR-1 have a coupling nut instead of male threads, but the assembly is practically the same.)

The following picture shows RC-Style 3, 7, G, J, P, U, and SSR-Style 7 and the assembly tool. The part number for the assembly tool here is RC-Z2096.

STEP 2 - DISASSEMBLED INTO PARTS
Disassemble the connector into its component parts. (Pictured here are the parts of an RC-Style 1.)

STEP 3 - PREPARING THE CABLE
After stripping off the jacket by about 38 mm (1.5 inches), slide the cable gland, the endbell, and the coupling nut over the cable (there is no coupling nut for style 7).

The following picture shows the same as above, but with parts for styles RC-3, RC-7, RC-G, RC-J, RC-P, RC-U, or SSR-7.

STEP 4 - STRIPPING THE WIRE ENDS
Strip the wire ends according to the contacts you use.

STEP 5 - CRIMPING
Crimp the pins or sockets onto the wire ends.

This is what it should look like once all the contacts have been crimped on:

STEP 6 - INSERTING THE CONTACTS
Click the contacts into the connector insert, one by one.

This is what it should look like once all the contacts have been clicked into the insert:

STEP 7 - CLIPPING ON THE PLASTIC COVER
Fold the black collapsible plastic cover around the connector insert.

STEP 8 - ADDING THE INSERT HOLDERS
Push the entire insert holder onto the cable end, as shown.

STEP 9 - PUTTING THE PARTS TOGETHER
Use the assembly tool (or a mating connector) to hold the insert in place and screw the parts together.

The following picture shows the same as above, but for styles RC-3, RC-7, RC-G, RC-J, RC-P, RC-U, or SSR-7.

STEP 10 -- READY TO TIGHTEN
Now all parts are screwed on and ready to be tightened.

STEP 11 - TIGHTENING
Tighten the endbell to the insert holder, the bottom segment of the cable gland to the endbell, and the top segment of the cable gland to the cable.
