Assembly Instructions for...
--RC-Style 8, 9, B, F, K, M, Q, R
--SSR-Style 8, 9, F, R

STEP 1 - CONNECTOR & TOOL
First, make sure you have all you need: (1) the assembled connector as shipped from us; and (2) the assemly tool (RC-Z2099). For small quantities, you can also use the mating connector as an assembly tool.

The following picture shows RC-Style 8 and the assembly tool. Styles RC-8, RC-K, RC-R, SSR-8, and SSR-R have a coupling nut, whereas Styles RC-9, RC-F, RC-B, RC-C, RC-I, RC-Q, RC-M, SSR-9, and SSR-F have male threads at the top instead of a coupling nut, but the assembly is practically the same.

STEP 2 - DISASSEMBLED INTO PARTS
Disassemble the connector into its component parts. Pictured here are the parts of an RC-Style 8.

STEP 3 - STRIPPING OFF THE JACKET
Strip off the jacket by about 38 mm (1.5 inches) and fold the shield backwards to expose just the wires. Slide the endbell, the black cage with the sealring, and the coupling nut over the jacket (remember that there is no coupling nut for RC-9, etc.).

STEP 4 - ADDING THE SHIELDING SLEEVE
Slide the shielding sleeve in a twisting motion over the wires and under the braid into the jacket (the protruding end has to point towards the jacket). This tends to be a bit difficult, so do not expect it to go easily.

This is how it should look:

STEP 5 - CUTTING THE SHIELD
Cut the wires of the shield around the edge of the shielding sleeve, as shown.

This is how it should look:

STEP 6 - CUTTING THE WIRES
Remove the see-through plastic foil from the wires and cut them to a length of 30 mm (1.2 inches).

STEP 7 - STRIPPING THE WIRE ENDS
Strip the wire ends according to the contacts you use.

STEP 8 - CRIMPING
Crimp the pins or sockets onto the wire ends.

STEP 9 - INSERTING THE CONTACTS
Click the contacts into the connector insert, one by one.

STEP 10 - CLIPPING ON THE PLASTIC COVER
Fold the black collapsible plastic cover around the connector insert. The cable end with the connector insert is now ready to assemble with the housing.

STEP 11 -- ADDING THE INSERT HOLDER
Slide the assembled end into the insert holder. The insert holder for RC-9, etc., has a male thread.

STEP 12 - USING THE ASSEMBLY TOOL (or Mating Connector)
Hold in place the insert with the assembly tool, RC-Z2099 (or a mating connector). For RC-9, etc., the tool will be RC-Z2096.

STEP 13 - ADDING THE ENDBELL
Turn the endbell onto the connector insert, as shown.

STEP 14 - TIGHTENING THE ENDBELL
Tighten the endbell with a wrench.
